Artifacts
Call them artifacts or memorabilia or keepsakes, items exist that visually record the history of having polio, treating acute poliomyelitis, developing vaccines and the effort to eradicate acute polio worldwide. Pictures are worth "a thousand words" but adding a personal explanation expands the understanding of equipment, family life and rehabilitation, and offers insight into the experiences through letters, old photos, medical records and newspaper articles.
