Post-Polio Research: Why and What?

Joan L. Headley, MS

Joan L. Headley, MS, graduated from Huntington University, Huntington, Indiana, in 1969 with a degree in biology. In 1974, she received her MS in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington. She has been executive director of Post-Polio Health International (PHI) since 1989. Joan has coordinated five of PHI's international conferences; collaborated with the staff of RWSIR on PHI’s 10th conference (2009); presented at 55+ meetings; served as a non-medical member of the Post-Polio Task Force; and served on the March of Dimes International Conference executive steering committee. She also is a Master Trainer for the Stanford-based Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP).
